From the moment she saw Shawn Scarlett perform at a school talent show, Kit Larson has loved two things: the guitar, and the gorgeous, green-eyed boy who inspired her to play. But one careless night in high school shatters her hope of ever being more than a notch on his bedpost.

Six years, two bands, and one mostly-mended heart later, Kit’s about to make her rock star dreams a reality as the new guitarist for Shawn’s band, The Last Ones to Know. He may not remember their reckless night together, but Kit has never forgotten… and she’s determined to make him eat his heart out.

The release of their new album means a month cooped up on a tour bus, sleeping inches away from the ridiculously sexy musician she’s never quite gotten over. And as Kit gets to know the real Shawn—not Shawn Scarlett, the rock god, the player—their attraction becomes too hot to resist. But the past is paved with secrets, and when they finally surface, Kit could lose everything: the band, the music, her dreams… and Shawn.

CHAOS Street Team

Hi all! Just wanted to post an update to let you know that my CHAOS street team members have been chosen! It was SO hard making the selection, since you know how much I love each and every one of my readers, but I had to keep the group small in order to get the okay from my publisher to provide the members with e-ARCs. If you weren't selected, please don't be discouraged -- I'm going to create a new street team for each book release, so you’ll have plenty opportunities in the future! <3

CHAOS Audiobook Narrators

  CHAOS Preorder

The CHAOS audiobook narrators are officially official, and they aaare.....

*drum roll pleeeease*

Khristine Hvam and Andy Paris!

Khristine. Freaking. Hvam!!!!

Why is it SO FREAKING COOL that Khristine is narrating CHAOS, you ask?

It's because my love of romance, my love of reading, all started with Julie Kagawa's The Iron Fey series, and Khristine narrated those books. Now one of my books is being narrated by the same person who narrated the series that changed my life (which remains one of my favorite series to this day), and that just blows. my. flipping. mind.

Nevermind that Khristine is ridiculously talented and a rock star narrator. In addition to narrating The Iron Fey series, she also narrated the Vampire Academy books..... the freaking Vampire Academy books.

As some of you may recall, Khristine was originally signed on to voice Dee in RIOT, but she had to back out due to some unforeseeable circumstances. It ended up working out for the best, though, because Arielle DeLisle stepped in and she ROCKED IT. She was the perfect Dee (seriously, just listen), and honestly, Khristine makes for a much better Kit. ;)

Khristine is finishing up her recording of CHAOS this week, and I can't wait to hear the story in her voice, because I know she's going to knock Kit Larson's fun, snarky, rock star personality out of the park. Between Khristine and Andy, this audiobook is going to ROCK!

Only a month and a half left until you can get CHAOS in ebook or audiobook formats! Out next month, on July 21st!

I hope you're as excited as I am!!

I'm Making a Street Team!

With CHAOS less than two months away, I've decided to form a street team!

A STREET. FREAKING. TEAM!

So what IS a street team?

Basically, it's a group of superfans who would like to help me promote my books, and in exchange, receive some awesome perks! (Like an advance e-ARC of CHAOS!! EEEE!!!) I want this group to be fun as well as productive, so in addition to promotional stuff (brainstorming marketing strategies, creating teasers, writing reviews), we'll also talk books, have some exclusive giveaways, and fight over Shawn Scarlett. ;)

If you think you might be interested in joining my team, you can get more info and fill out an application here:

https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/PP27XD6

The deadline for applications is Sunday, June 7th, so make sure to apply soon! And in the meantime, check out my fan group on Facebook, because that group rocks hard too:

CHAOS Cover Reveal

Does this cover rock or what?!

I'm so stoked because I had a HUGE say in this one! I hand-picked the cover image and the color of the title, and I love the way it all turned out! It's like a scene straight out of the book, and in less than three months, you'll finally get to read it!

I love how shadowy and mysterious Shawn is on the cover because it totally suits him. He has his hands full with Kit, and that synopsis isn't kidding -- there are SECRETS, sooo many secrets.

This book turned out long -- about 100,000 words, which is much longer than the first two in the series -- and trust me, you're going to want to read it!

The readers in that group get exclusive peeks at things, and the full prologue is posted under the documents. :)

So what do you guys think? Do you love it? Are you excited?! I can't wait!

Oh Hey There

It's been A MILLION YEARS since I last did a blog post! And a LOT has happened!

I've had THREE signings since then. ApollyCon at the end of February was my very first book signing EVER, and it was amazing. I got to meet so many of my favorite authors -- Jennifer Armentrout, Jay Crownover, Jamie McGuire, Wendy Higgins, Tiffany King... the list seriously goes on and on. It was a huge event, and I completely sold out of books.

Sold. The hell. Out.

Interacting with readers was pretty much the best thing ever. I had DREAMED of my first signing, and let me just say -- the fans at ApollyCon blew my expectations out of the water. They were so amazing and enthusiastic... I went home feeling like a freaking rock star.  My husband came with me as my assistant, and after seeing the lines I kept getting in front of my table, even he finally realized what a BIG deal all of this is! Which was AWESOME.

Then I had a little signing at my local BAM, and later I got to take part in my first author panels at Avon KissCon, and... yeah, it's been surreal. And amazing.

NOW, I'm starting another exciting adventure -- I'm officially beginning my maternity leave! Baby Shaw is due in just four and a half more weeks! I posted this pic on my FB pages 10 weeks ago... and now, just imagine a belly 5 bazillion times this size:

It's a boy, and he's HUGE! Or at least he feels that way. I guess we'll find out in a few weeks. ;)

In the meantime, I've finished writing CHAOS and I officially have a cover to share with you guys!!! So now that we're all caught up, I'm going to end this blog entry and post lots of pretty for you.

Dee: The "Best Friend" Heroine

RIOT comes out TOMORROW!!  (Less than THREE freaking hours from now!)

And I wanted to write a post about everyone’s favorite best friend, Dee.  ;)  Dee is the heroine in RIOT, and she's definitely a handful.  Those of you who read MAYHEM know that Dee is a girl who says and does whatever the hell she wants.  She’s promiscuous, she’s outspoken (understatement of the century), and she makes no apologies.

Dee is *real*, and if you’re like me, there will be parts of RIOT when you want to bitch-slap her, there will be parts when you want to hug her, and there will be parts when you want to be her.

It’s no secret how hard readers can be on flawed (at times “unlikeable”) heroines, but I set out to write a book about “the best friend”—the slutty, outspoken girl who almost never gets her own book—and that’s exactly what I did.  Dee is Dee, from beginning to end.  If you loved her in MAYHEM, you’ll have more of her to love in RIOT.  ;)

And, that being said, Joel is Joel.  This is a book about two characters who are players, who view sex as something fun to do, a game to play.  This book is a *lot* steamier than MAYHEM, with a much rawer storyline.  It still has humor and fun times with the band, but we see things from *Dee’s* point-of-view, and Dee’s view of the world, not to mention her moral compass, are drastically different from Rowan’s.

This review (which I absolutely ADORE) does a great job at describing the differences: http://freshfiction.com/review.php?id=50347

I, personally, grew to love Dee by the end of the story.  Like seriously, really love her.  And I grew to love Joel, even though when I first started writing MAYHEM, I never imagined him being a hero in his own book.  These two damaged characters got a story that felt like it was always meant to be written the exact way it turned out, and it is a story I am immensely proud of.  I’m proud of my characters and how they grew.  I’m proud of myself for sticking to my guns.  And… yeah, I just really freaking love this book.

And I hope you will too.

Happy reading!

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You

A *lot* has happened since my last blog post.  A *LOT*.  A lot, a lot, a lot.

MAYHEM released two weeks ago, and you guys got made it *skyrocket* to the Best Seller lists on Amazon.  You put it in the Top 20 Coming of Age books.  You put it in the Top 20 New Adult & College books.  You put it at a mind-blowing #193 on the Paid Kindle books rankings -- out of over a million titles.

January 20, 2015 will forever go down as one of the best days ever, and I bawled so many times that day.  Because things like this don't happen to debut authors.  And I never thought they'd happen to me.

That day, in the eeearly hours of the morning, the release-day madness all started with this:

First dream come true: my book was published.  It was on a Kindle.  People could buy it.  People could read it.  I was already on cloud nine.

Then, seventeen hours later, this happened:

And I wasn't lying.  I did cry.  A lot.  I'd gone into this publishing venture with next to no expectations, so to see my book -- my book, that I'd worked so hard on -- climbing up the ranks... to know that people were reading it, that a lot of people were reading it... it was overwhelming.

Then, MAYHEM made the New Adult list, and I got to see its cover sitting pretty on lists next to some of my FAVORITE books.  My name was next to names like Jay Crownover, Jennifer Armentrout, Cora Carmack.  I was overwhelmed to the point of tears once again, because looking at my computer screen and seeing that with my own eyes... it felt too big -- too big to have even hoped for.  And yet here it was, really happening.

And still, MAYHEM kept rising, rising, rising, until, on its second day, it made the Top freaking 20.

I still can't truly describe that feeling.  I felt like a fucking rock star.

As time passed and MAYHEM's ranking got better and better and better, this is what the email chain between me, my editor, and my agent looked like:

We. Were. Freaking. OUT.

At its highest point (day 2), MAYHEM ranked #193 of all paid Kindle titles.  And this pretty much sums up how I felt (except imagine a lot more screaming, bawling, and flailing):

And you know what?  This blog post hasn't been nearly mushy enough.  That first week of my debut, I started getting messages from readers, real readers who loved my characters, my story, my writing.  And every single one of those messages was the best thing ever.  I had a reader actually tell me that I made *her* day when I responded to an email she wrote me........

UM, GUYS.  You make my day every time you message me!  When you freak out and talk about your ovaries exploding because you fell in love with one of my characters, I laugh my ass off and FALL IN LOVE WITH YOU.  I'm a total fangirl over my fans.  You guys are AMAZING.

In the two weeks since MAYHEM has been out, you've kept it on the Best Seller lists.  You've reviewed it over 600 times on Goodreads.  You've gotten your friends to read it, your friends' friends to read it, your friends' friends' friends to read it.

I know that eventually, after I've released a lot more books and have had a lot more experiences like this, these feelings might start to fade, and release days might start to seem less magical.  But dear god, I hope not.  And if they do, I hope I never forget.  I hope I never forget what it felt like to get my first message from my first reader about my first book when it came out on its first day.

That's part of why I'm writing this blog post right now -- because yes, I want to say thank you, but I also always want to remember to keep thanking you.  I owe MAYHEM's success to every single person who read it, to every single person who reviewed it, and to every single person who told a friend.  A lot of hard work went into the book by a lot of people, but all of that work would have been for nothing without you guys.

So..... even though this blog post still hasn't been nearly mushy enough, I'll end it by simply saying thank you.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

You guys are the real rock stars.
